Whether it is in CNC precision machining or every task we do in life, we must be organized. Only in this way can we perfectly complete a product or task.

Take the operation of CNC precision machining, for example—it needs to be carried out in sequence. If the operation sequence is not followed in CNC precision machining, it is easy to cause machine failures during the process, and in severe cases, personal safety accidents may occur. Therefore, when performing CNC precision machining, employees must pay attention to the safe operation sequence to avoid accidents!

A CNC precision-machined part often has several surfaces that need to be processed. These surfaces not only have certain precision requirements themselves but also have certain positional requirements relative to each other. To meet these precision requirements, the processing sequence of each surface in CNC precision machining cannot be arranged arbitrarily; it must follow a certain order. This is determined by the selection and conversion of positioning datums, as well as the principle that the previous should prepare the positioning datum for the subsequent.

CNC Precision Machining

The first thing to do is the preparation for starting up

Every time a CNC machine tool is started up or after the machine is reset via the emergency stop button, it should first return to the machine's reference zero position (i.e., homing), so that the machine has a reference position for its subsequent operations.

The second step is to prioritize precision before operation

In CNC precision machining, the precise surface should be processed at the beginning of the CNC machining process because it will be used for positioning when processing other surfaces in subsequent.

The third step is rough datum precise positioning

When machining a precise surface in CNC precision machining, rough datum precise positioning is required. In single-piece, small-batch production, and even batch production, for castings, forgings with complex shapes or large sizes, and blanks with large dimensional errors, a marking should be arranged before the mechanical machining to provide an alignment datum for precise machining.

The fourth step: higher-precision machining for CNC processes with high requirements

After we have completed the precise machining, we should then perform rough machining, semi-finishing, and finishing on each main surface with higher precision requirements. Surfaces with particularly high precision requirements also need to undergo finishing machining.

The fifth step is adjustment

In CNC precision machining, before processing important surfaces, the precision datum should be trimmed once to help ensure the machining precision of the important surfaces.

Finally, there is the process for handling defective products

For in CNC machining that are prone to producing defective products, finishing and finishing machining can be appropriately placed earlier, and the machining of some secondary small surfaces can be placed afterward.
